Position Overview

Ultimate Staffing is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Grant Accountant to support a client's team in California. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who excels at managing grant-related financial activities, ensuring compliance, and maintaining accurate reporting. The Grant Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of grants, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring adherence to funding guidelines to support the organization's fiscal integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, maintain, and reconcile grant-related financial reports, statements, and general ledger entries.
  • Monitor grant budgets and expenditures to ensure compliance with funding requirements.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual grant reconciliations to maintain accurate reporting.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, providing grant-specific documentation as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and funding-agency regulations, as well as internal control procedures.
  • Assist in preparing grant billings, drawdowns, and financial submissions.
  • Support the preparation of grant-related tax filings or regulatory financial reports.
  • Collaborate with program managers and stakeholders to track spending and clarify budget requirements.
  • Assist in the implementation, improvement, and maintenance of grant accounting processes and controls.
  • Communicate effectively with internal departments and external funding partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail with excellent accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
